Digital Literacy:

Survival Skills for the 21st Century

This year’s lecture will be given by Martin Bean, Vice-Chancellor of The Open University, who recently joined the OU with twenty five years’ experience as an industry leader and author in global business training and education.

Martin was previously General Manager of Microsoft’s Worldwide Education Products Group, focussed on technology and solutions to help the global education community address teaching and learning challenges.

In his speech, Martin will examine the rich potential of new technologies in education, their role in developing digital literacy as a critical life skill, and consider how collective action might tackle the threat posed to social justice and mobility through digital exclusion.
